In Life.

Even larger than the EDU comes the Eruithont at over 200 meters long on average and 15 or more meters in diameter. The most prolific of the giants, these creatures are highly territorial, although only with regards to each other, they let any other species pass through unbothered. This intense rivalry only escalates during periods of reproduction when they produce and fertilize their eggs singularly. Of the 8 or so eggs that are laid only one egg survives (the weaker of any ties for longevity is crushed and eaten by the progenitor), after their hatching the children fight amongst themselves for secondary territories until around 25 remain, at which time they challenge the oldest of the Eruithont for their territory. Only 1 overcomes the elder generation (with the outliers being only that all of them die which is particularly rare) and once this is done they occupy the adversary's area, eating the corpse of the fallen and any of their generation that have been moved to their domain (the elder generation brings their bested challengers to the new champion in all case scenarios save for the body being destroyed by a natural lava flow or other fluke). As for the territorial rivalries between the Eruithont regularly, challenges are often made and fights fought with the end result being both challengers beaten sorely but secure in their territory, with a rare exception, sometimes the challenge results in the death of one of the duelers, in this case the champion has the ability to trigger a special birth out of season, thus replacing the fallen sister.
